Skincare hacks during office hours

Our busy work life and long work hours can take a toll on your skin and overall appearance. Being stuck to our laptop screens at work, we often neglect our skincare. Hence we at Leal, bring to you easy and time-saving hacks that any office goer can follow to keep your skin regime going strong even during work hours: -
Protect your skin with Sunscreen
You may think you don’t need sunscreen sitting inside your office but being indoors does not protect you from the kind of UV damage that causes skin aging. There are two kinds of ultraviolet radiation that affect the skin: UVB and UVA. UVB (the one that causes sunburn) does not generally get indoors whereas UVA (the one that causes skin wrinkles) does so with relative ease.
Your sunscreen is not just a protectant from the sun but also the radiations from your workplace computer which can cause skin damage. The blue light emitted from your computers/tablets can increase the production of melanin on your skin causing dark spots. It can also enable free radicals on your skin causing inflammation and reducing the skin’s elasticity.
Do apply sunscreen before leaving for work and reapply it after every two hours.
Apply and reapply moisturizer
You need your moisturizer as much as your sunscreen as your skin may experience dryness during long hours in office. A light, non-comedogenic moisturizer can do the job without making the skin oily or sticky. Note that an air-conditioned office space will need you to reapply 3-4 times during work hours to prevent any skin damage.
Keep hand cream handy
Your hands also need care during office hours as they become extremely dry and itchy after working for long hours. Applying a hand cream not only helps release stress but also helps in treating dry and cracked skin to keep it smooth and soft.
Dress according to your comfort
Choose fashionable and comfortable clothes made out of cotton or linen that are apt for office wear and keep perspiration and sweat at bay, which ensure that your pores don’t get clogged.
Carry a gentle face wash to work
If you think that you need not cleanse your face when you are indoors, then you are mistaken. Being exposed to the computer for long hours can make your face look dull and tired. It not only hydrates the skin by removing dead cells but also clear any trace of oil and dirt to make it look radiant and fresh.
Opt for a natural mist
Say no to alcohol-induced makeup fixers and opt for rose water or cucumber mists to give a fresh soft glow to the skin without any harm. This is the easiest hack to get rid of tired and dull skin. Just a few spritzes of your favourite face mist can make your skin look fresh again. You can also carry a face mist in your bag and keep spraying it on your face throughout the day.
Don’t forget your lip balm
Your lips often get chapped and dry while being stuck in an air-conditioned room for hours. Hence, apply a lip balm whenever your lips feel dry to give them long-lasting softness and hydration. Beware of certain waxy, petrochemical lip balms that make your lips drier and instead opt for lip balms loaded with nature-derived butters and cold-pressed oils.
Drink sufficient water
It is important to drink at least 2 litres of water at work not only to hydrate yourself but also to reduce chances of dull looking and tired skin. Instead of drinking coffee or milk-tea many times, opt for green tea to keep the skin hydrated and retain a glowing appearance by the end of the day.
